Subject: (Off-topic) How to share a .Xauthority file?

I'm finally getting around to sharing my /home directory across all of
my machines, and I've run into a slight problem.
It seems that whenever I log in to one machine (via xdm), I lose my
entire .Xauthority file, preventing me from logging in or starting new
clients on the other machines.
Is there any way to tell X that I'm sharing this file?
