Maybe it was per-bus, I don't remember (and don't have the machine to check).
The fact is that it defaults to 'off', and I can't see any rationale for
this. This prevent most add-on boards from working.

I wonder if just tunring it on is enouth for all cases. I guess if the
chip is behind a pci-pci bridge which has not been configured for DMA it
will not work (but I may be wrong, I don't know PCI well enouth :)
