my "rule of thumb" is that 

   % skey -p9 9 9
   STUB ELSE MARY LOON COON EAR

always give me the same response.  i've even got it sort of memorized
(i might not really be able repeat it back to you, but i would notice
if i got the wrong answer).

fwiw - i'm using 1.3.3 and it works fine.
