The approach I use is to read the CD with tosha (you'll find it in the
pkgsrc tree) and then to encode the resulting PCM files with the
Fraunhofer encoder, which is a commercial product, though. I think the
URL where to get that beast has been posted already. Anyway, try
tosha; it worked fine for me.
