Hi everybody,

today I tried to install the NetBSD 1.4 beta snapshot I found on
ftp.netbsd.org on my test machine. The PC is an ordinary Pentium
something with SCSI.

Unfortunately I failed somewhere where I didn't expect it: The boot
disks don't work! I wrote both boot disks (several times), inserted
the first. NetBSD prints the usual numeric gibberish on the screen,
then tells me to insert disk 2.

I do so, hit return and then it continues printing gibberish which
finally concludes to the point where normally the kernel would start
up. Unfortunately it never reaches that point but hangs until
eternity.

Curiously enough I am fairly sure that the kernel itself does work
fine, because the machine is currently running NetBSD-current, even
though my last update is a few weeks back.

Anyway, I am open to any suggestions what I could try to convince
NetBSD 1.4 to work. :-)

I appreciate any comments!
