Acutally, we have /etc/rc.conf after some long discussion and


slight correction.


we have /etc/rc.conf because i pulled the origins of it out of
/etc/netstart and made most of the daemons in rc configurable
this way, not via some random file existing, or not, or something
else random.


it had nothing to do with BSD vs. SysV init/rc, though i certainly
had that in mind at the time, to ensure that the same file would
be usable for any system.
