It's working for me:
-rw-rw-r--  1 root  wheel  34868 Feb 11 06:09 blockframe.c

And line 216 of blockframe.c is:
  obstack_init (&frame_cache_obstack);

There's no mention of free anywhere in flush_cached_frames()...
