I installed the 1.3I snapshot on a i386 laptop using sysinstall.
I choose `use full disk for install of netbsd' and that does
not seem to entirely to do right thing. I had expected that
would put boot code in the MBR, so that no bootloader would be
necessary. Well, it didn't.
This is what disklabel gives me:
# size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg]
a: 174321 63 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16 # (Cyl. 0*- 172)
b: 132993 174384 swap # (Cyl. 173 - 304*)
c: 2654001 63 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0*- 2632)
d: 2654064 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - 2632)
e: 2346687 307377 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16 # (Cyl. 304*- 2632)
I don't know much about these things, but I thought for a full disk install
the `a' partition should start at offset 0, not 63. At least, running
installboot again doesn't make the disk bootable. I need to install an
additional bootloader or use a floppy with a bootblock to boot.
Feico Dillema,
