Just as another datapoint:
A co-worker has a pretty recent Nokia phone and he showed me
that he can print from his handy to our HP-LaserJet 6P.
So, I guess they are using a standard IrDA protocol at least
on one model :-)

I can try to find out which model he has, if this is important.
