Today I did what I should have done long ago, and moved the sources
for the run-time linker (a.out version) and related utilities out
of the `gnu' subtree into the regular hierarchy.  This can be done
because in fact none of the files involved are GPLed.

Binary-only distributions can now carry shared libraries including
the necessary run-time support  and not have to worry about deviant
license terms.
