Hello...
For some weeks (months?) I keep seeing ugly usage informations for the
swapper, pagedaemon and reaper. Probably there isn't any usefull
information about those, but negative memory usage and negative RSS values
keep screwing up the display. The same funny values appear with top. Since
I started seeing those values I recompiled the complete system several
times with the latest current version, so incompatible kernel/userland
shouldn't be my fault. It is no serious problem for me, but I am just
curious why this happens. So here is a short extract of a typical ps -axu
output.
USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TT STAT STARTED TIME COMMAND
root 0 0.0 -92.0 0 -120240 ?? DLs 12:07PM 0:00.01 (swapper)
root 1 0.0 0.1 224 168 ?? Is 12:07PM 0:00.02 /sbin/init
root 2 0.0 -92.0 0 -120240 ?? DL 12:07PM 0:00.00 (pagedaemon)
root 3 0.0 -92.0 0 -120240 ?? DL 12:07PM 0:03.60 (reaper)
root 76 0.0 0.3 84 388 ?? Ss 12:08PM 0:00.10 syslogd
root 80 0.0 0.3 48 360 ?? Is 12:08PM 0:00.00 portmap
root 112 0.0 0.2 16 288 ?? Ss 12:08PM 0:00.35 update 30
root 114 0.0 0.4 268 476 ?? Ss 12:08PM 0:00.06 cron
Bye, Bjoern
