Or -i386, since (on a lark) I am now running a kernel
built with egcs-1.1.1+haifa and am watching userland
build.

BTW, how does one *tell* one has the haifa scheduler in
one's egcs?  gcc -v says nothing different, and strings on
the stripped binaries is unrevealing.
