	Wouldn't it make more sense to just use psh?  :)

	The way I solved this problem was to not rely on signal handlers
to do the work.  It ended up being a lot more straightforward (and using
no global variables, etc...) to spawn off however many processes I want to
keep running, then just loop a waitpid as long as I've got work left.
