John Polstra has documented the protocol fairly well. You can find
the info in the CVSup package at ftp.freebsd.org:/pub/FreeBSD/CVSup
(or something like that).

I know I'm not the only one who'd love to see a C implementation
of CVSup, but it's going to be an awful lot of work.
