I saw the same thing for some time, on NetBSD-current when I recently rebuild
all of my installed packages. I managed to remove the problem by just
re-compiling again. When I recompiled the machine was a few days more current
again, but I don't think that matters. I think, it `optionally' depends
on another package, maybe ncurses or or such. I may have installed
that one after I compiled vim the first time, but before the second time.
Just guess work here, but maybe it helps you tracking this down...
