I am the author of the file(1) command, and of the LEGAL.NOTICE file
that apparently torched off a big flame war on this list.
I tried to respond to the list as well as directly to Christos,
but guess what?

It would appear that somebody at NetBSD.org and/or Cygnus.com is afraid of
somebody at OpenBSD having a better idea, and is blocking email
originating from *.openbsd.org.

Well, as Cygnus founder John Gilmore once said, the net interprets
censorship as damage and routes around it. So here is the message
re-routed:

Hello y'all. Yes, the file command is [now] being
distributed with a Berkeley copyright with OpenBSD.
NetBSD should do the same; can whomever is maintaining
it there please cvs the current version from the
OpenBSD archives? A copy is appended to save you time.

Thanks
Ian Darwin
