I can comment on some userlevel changes. They often take a radical
approach to kick out a program instead of fixing it. Examples are
/bin/sh, which isn't any longer ash, but pdksh (which fixes half of
the SIGINT/SIGQUIT problems...) and tar, which is no longer GNU tar,
but pax. Radical approaches show up in other userlevel areas as well,
so I rate them as not very simlar now. The kernel area may be the
other way round (UVM etc.).
