yes, it was my fault.  i've fixed it now.  in my own defense, however,
i'll note that similar problems would have cropped up in the FFS and LFS
LKMs, should they have actually been in otherwise working order... whoever
defopt'ed UVM and deffs'ed LFS didn't do similar protection.  i caught
those on my sweep through the vfs LKMs.

anyway, that doesn't make me any less lame. :-/
