More effective would be to actively contact the authors and
ask them about the status.

There is at leats one project on Projects list (ATAPI subsystem by
Manuel Bouyer), which should be removed, as it has been merged into
main tree sometimes about 1.2G or so.

I've looked at the projects and there is even some implementation
of nsswitch available. What's the reson why it haven't been merged
into main tree yet ?
