Looking at what is or was in othersrc, I wonder if it's needed at all
anymore:

gated: no longer there. Not in pkgsrc, but maybe should be?
kermit: no longer there, in pkgsrc
mh: no longer there, pointer to config file on sun-lamp(!), nmh in pkgsrc
tcsh: no longer there, in pkgsrc
tcpdump: no longer there, in tree
xntp: no longer there, in tree
sup: no longer there, in tree
cvs: there... old version? local changes? there is 1.9 in pkgsrc

Looks like othersrc has bit-rotted away to almost nothing...
