no, it isn't normal. Chuck Silvers and I got out of sync
WRT this counter so it isn't getting changed properly. It
is mostly a book-keeping error that shouldn't hurt your
system. I have a patch from Chuck to fix it, but I haven't
had a chance to merge it yet.
