Wild guess: an up-to date pkgsrc.
Plus, please tell us on which system you're on, that might help, too.
IF "make package" wanted to add bin/perl5.00401, this would be somewhere
in pkg/PLIST*. As a quick grep didn't find anything, I'm guessing your
perl-package is out of date.
