I think it's quite a cool idea. The only "thing" is that I think folks are
already pretty active in developing new stuff. I like the idea of a new
sort of incentive, though.

One thing that would have to be worked out is a way to "manage" projects.
If two folks start the same project, and one finishes first, it would be
quite discouraging for the other, which wouldn't be good for the project as
a whole. Probably listing contact information for folks taking on each
project and listing tentative completion dates would be sufficient. That
way, folks could collaborate if they wanted, and if they prefer working
alone, they'd have a reason to frequent the page to snag new projects as
they come up.
