I have been building some of the things in pkgsrc and came
across a wee problem. In archivers/rar it grabs a file
rarbsd.exe which is a BSD/OS i386 executable. The thing
is, I'm running on a Mac. Not real useful...

It just happens to be selective about who it makes friends with.
