If you give pppd an invalid speed in /etc/ppp/options it fails with a
decidedly user unfriendly error message relating to tcsetattr:

The man page for this call clued me in, but it shouldn't be that hard,
especially for an error users can make pretty easily.

If this whining about unhelpful error messages gets tedious, let me know,
but I seem to make lots of common errors, and therefor see a lot of error
messages.
