Hello!

Today I compiled the new integrated ppp 2.3.1, and it does no longer
work for me. This is on a Toshiba Tecra 500CDT (i386).

I start pppd in a script, which worked until pppd 2.3.0b5; here is
the heart of it:

    pppd /dev/tty00 115200 netmask 255.255.255.0 mtu 576 \
        defaultroute \
        noipdefault \
        lock \
        crtscts \
        connect '/usr/sbin/chat \
        ABORT BUSY ABORT "NO CARRIER" "" \

        "assword:" "$ppppwd"' 

The old pppd binary (2.3.0b5) works fine with it, the new pppd does not
even try to get a free tone from the modem, I get imediadly:

Sep 27 22:48:32 cyberlap pppd[273]: pppd 2.3.1 started by frueauf, uid 0
Sep 27 22:48:33 cyberlap pppd[273]: Connect script failed
Sep 27 22:48:35 cyberlap pppd[273]: Exit.

[one led on the modem is on for a short time though, but I can't hear
the free tone, which I hear with the old pppd]

Any idea?
