I noticed that the call to ntpdate was moved within /etc/rc 1-2 days
ago.

Is there any reason that ntpdate is called after syslogd, nfs/yp, and
cron? Wouldn't it be better to reset the time as soon as possible after
starting the network to void having daemons running with a wrong
impression of the time or with files being updated with wrong access
and modification times?

Just asking,
