Yes, you can play audio CDs through the SB.  It does not involve
any D/A conversion on the SB, just the mixer device.  I know it works;
I've been walking to work for a few days now using my laptop as
(the world heaviest) a Walkman :-)

I've got binaries for xmcd if you want them.  You need Motif (Lesstif
is too buggy) to compile it.
