I'm getting highway1 installed Thursday, so I'll be working on a
short-term expedient DHCP client today.

It appears that highway1 assigns personalized DNS names to its
subscriber's ip addresses and gives out DNS entries with a TTL of 24
hours, so they must not be renumbering their client pool very often..

My model is that the "dhcp-client" is a long-running daemon attached
to an interface or interfaces and which controls the ip address,
netmask, broadcast addr, and possibly default route..
