Remember those NCR patches from Dave Huang (khym@bga.com) a while
back, which essentially were a port of the FreeBSD driver?

Well, when I upgraded my machine to 1.2, I noticed that the NCR
controller blew up on my HP Surestore drive. I had a spare Buslogic
sitting around, so I plopped that in and made a mental note to look
at it later.

Of course I never did, until another machine developed an urgent
need for that controller, and I discovered I now had a system that
could barely load its kernel. Single-user mode was out of the
question.

After much pain and agony, I finally got a new kernel with this
patched NCR driver in and lo and behold things work much better
now. (I won't say perfectly, but I've not seen any problems yet.)
And yes, my 5400 RPM disks are suddenly twice as fast as well.

I think this should definitely go in the patch kit for 1.2. If
someone needs another copy of the patches, let me know.

(And if you were expecting a reply on some mail you've sent me in
the past day and a half, it's coming; don't worry.)
