Yes, good idea. I had the same thing on my mind already. I would suggest
something like a generic alien disklabel reader which automatically marks
these disklabels as read only. And I would be willing to add the Amiga RDB
support to such a beast.

The only problem is that you can't share NetBSD FFS partitions between
ports with different byte order. :-(
