What RRIP V1.12 defines is somewhat irrelevant for the near term; my
belief is that most people who make CD-ROMs with RRIP are still using
the 1.09 spec.

Kinda like NFS V3, it will take quite a while for the new version to
catch on, and the old version will have to be supported for a long, long
time.
