The point I was trying to make, whether or not the reverse engineering
effort were difficult or not, is that a company that tries to sell
an OEM packaged product and then does not make documentation freely
available for it is in a slightly less competetive position with
regards to *my* business than another company who is.

I will buy, and write drivers for products, where the manufacturer
is actually interested in selling hardware, not their own cleverness.
