I notice that rcp is in /bin, and statically linked, rather than in /usr/bin.
   What's the reason for this?

a) system crashes.
b) you notice that most of the root partition is broken.
c) but rcp isn't.
d) use rcp to fix system.
e) happy hapy joy joy.
