I've never tried that, but I have installed NetBSD inside a DOS
partition before. I created a large (200Mb+) contiguous MSDOS file,
added a partition entry pointing at that file, and install NetBSD
within the partition. It's not quite what you're thinking of and not
nearly as cool, but it lets you install NetBSD without resizing your
DOS partition.
