which I think I should share with you. Arguably, I should have made
more research before my first mail. :-)]

I just saw that the LED actually _does_ light up during boot, but it
goes dark when ifconfig is run. I've repeated this when booting single
user.

(I also built a customized kernel, without the extra pcmcia cards (ep0
and com3) which are in the PCMCIA config file. I then got rid of the
two "bus_config failed 19" messages which the PCMCIA kernel printed on
boot.)
