And, indeed, in the past i've talked to him to find out what support
he needed, etc.

Doing this isn't particularly 'new.'  Doing it in a manner that's
portable, rather than just kludging something on to the side of
already-broken interfaces is.

And, now, since a few other isa drivers in /sys/dev/isa should be
able to compile cleanly -- with no modifications -- on an amiga system
with the proper support, somebody should do the right thing and make
them work.
