Altering sup to do all that itself would tie it too closely to the
   NetBSD tree organization, IMHO, and would probably P.O. someone else.

yah.  i can easily imagine being really pissed off if sup deleted
some thing in a dir that i had 'left' there, that wasn't at all
related to what was being supped, so it could delete the dir itself.
