A simple way to test -- telnet yourhost 113. If you get "connection
refused", check inetd.conf, or make sure inetd itself is running...
If you get in, try typing 0,0 return. You should get an error message,
if you're running a functional identd, or something like
0, 0: USERID: OTHER: brnstnd@kramden.acf.nyu.edu
if you're running one of the creative variants out there...
