	Yes, I can vouch for this. On the HP300, running xdm with
authentication enabled will trash the dcm device (xdm generates random
bits by checksumming the first 16 megs of /dev/mem and walks on the
dcm's registers... Thanks to Charles for saving me from ripping my
hair out.
