   I think we should consider moving "sparc" to "sun4c" in order to keep the
   architectures straight.

why ?  our `sparc' will run on all, hopefully.  it currently runs on
sun4, sun4c and mostly on sun4m.  that's what is holding up the
integration of the sun4m code, afaik -- the fact that one kernel can't
run on both the sun4c and the sun4m.
