I think I saw this discussed a while ago, but of course did not keep
it... 

I was able to build this snapshot (Jan 27 tar_files) ok on a sparc,
but on the i386 I get:

/f1/usr.src/gnu/usr.bin/gcc/libgcc/libgcc2.c:76: no data type for mode `XF'
/f1/usr.src/gnu/usr.bin/gcc/libgcc/libgcc2.c:82: unknown machine mode `__word__'
*** Error code 1

Since I can't recall when I saw said discussion, downloading the last
few months worth of mail archives did not seem a good idea...

Helpful suggestions most welcome...
