The way I handled it under HpUx was to create several network
printer with a filter on it. My task was to make the same printer
handle raw HpPCL, PostScript, and Text. So... I created several
'printers'. For hpPCL and PostScript, the job was easy --- just tack
on the 'force <mode>' command to the head of the file, and send it.

For the text, I ran it through a text-to-PS filter just to be
fancy.

The secret is to have the remote printer point at localhost as
the machine to send it to. If I remember correctly, you can also pass
a single parameter to berkeley printer devices.

Dave.
