Um, no; "make build" died before it got to the point of doing a general
install.

Hah. Upon looking more closely, guided by that hint, I now think I
understand what happened, and believe that _this_ make build should
succeed - or at least make it past share/man/man9. :-)
If it doesn't, I'll be back in your mailbox soon enough :-/
