I would encourage you NOT to do this.  While it does put most if not
all of the system params in one file, it does NOT address the upgrade
and/or removal of packages.  I still believe that each package needs a
seperate directory or at least startup file and config file.  I don't
like the /etc/init.d thing with run levels.  I would prefer not to use
them.  But perhaps we can do both.  I don't know yet, but I'll be
breaking my machine tonight and will let you all know tommorow  ;)
