Firstly sorry for the delay in replying, but I have spent most of the
day rebuilding a system <sigh>.

   I like it!

Thanks!

Not bad, although the reason for the multiple daemons probably won't
be obvious. Maybe a sort of daemon Road Warrior motif would work
   better... :')

In hindsight I agree. I was considering a muscle bound (steroids
taking ?) version of the Beastie at one point. Maybe a bikie version ?

What colors would daemons be other than red? :) I like the way it
looks with the three of them... I don't particulary like the _pink_
background, though. The image looks a little fuzzy, but that could
just be lousy dithering in Netscape. The 'Powered by NetBSD' might
look better a little more to the right-- it strikes me as a little
lopsided as it stands. Overall a nice job, though! If it weren't pink,
I'd use it right now. ;)

The text might look fuzzy due to the anti-aliasing going on. Also
moving the text is no problem.

There have been a few suggestions to use the yellow/orange from the
book cover. Given the logo is in photoshop format I can do almost
anything to it. I am definitely going to change the background.

I like it! Mind if I start using it (on my NetBSD powered web server)?

Go right ahead. That's why I did it. You might want to wait for the
next version (I'll most likely do a few variations).

Harry W. Waddell <waddell@caravan.com> writes:

looks pretty good. I think that the colours are just fine. The
multiple daemons thing may be too subtle. Being right-brain-challenged

   sense to put

Point taken...

   Powered by
      NetBSD
   multi-platform OS

where the last line would be about the same font size as the "Powered by".
[or smaller]. I know that its pretty blatant, but to Joe average user looking
at a web page, that piece of info may be what is needed to get his attention.

I think that that will help a lot (it'll be in it). I have sort of
decided to drop the multiple daemons (I'll keep the origional intact).

   Nice work. Cheers.

Thanks.

Great!

   Now, the feedback:
   - Isn't it too big ?

How big do you think it should be ? It could come back down to the
freeBSD logo size as I will be dropping the number of Beasties...

   - I'm not sure, but maybe some color changing may be good.

See above...

Even more logical would be different expressions on the faces; or different

I'm not quite there. Although sometime I want to model the Beastie in
3D and maybe then the face changes (as well as physic [spel?] :)

Hm. This suggests to me a picture of a nondescript but probably
non-PC computer with wheels with a BSD Daemon following behind it,
prodding it along with its pitchfork...

Strange you should mention that. My first idea was of a team of
Beasties pushing or pulling something of a computer. I'd decided
against it...

I've some daemon-pics on my homepage
   (http://rfhs1012.fh.uni-regensburg.de/~feyrer/NetBSD/daemon.html), and i have
the OK from Kirk McK. to use them for non-profit display. If you want to know
more about that, check the copyright out there, it also contains Kirk McK.'s
address, in case you want to contact him.

Thanks! I have been looking over there, some possibilities...

I'll let people know as to when the next versions will be ready.
