This is a pet peeve of mine although it's really not a problem if you
compile your own kernel.  It's dead easy to do it in the config file
look at A3000 or BURBCLAVE in amiga/conf.  Just remember when you get
a kernel from a friend that your fstab will be in error.  So why isn't
tis the standard way?  Well it doesn't scale well to multi-controller
systems, which was why even I went over to the standard way, although
I not like it.  Esp. when doing a lot of hot-swapping (like I do at
times) this is frustrating, but when you know the reasons it's easier
to live with.
