booting a i386 should be possible using a boot-PROM in your Network card.  I 
still haven't got a spare machine to play with, so I don't know if it really 
works.
Bootproms are availible from dirk@incom.de, there is a mailing list associated 
with it, tcpbprom@dunkel.de which is managed by majordomo-software.
