I've seen things get places in lost+found before, after serious 
filesystem spammage (an HP-IB disk on my FTP server was failing, and it 
happened to contain the /usr filesystem).  I think the things you're 
seeing are files that have been explicitly unlinked, and their ref count 
has dropped to 0.
