A slightly different approch would be to have the 'rc' script
assembled from a set of smaller scripts and installed in the standard
place.  E.g. similar to sendmail.cf.  I don't see a strong reason to
bother init or /etc/rc with figuring out which 'rc' scripts to run and
in what order.
